Residents and staff at Southern Housing’s extra care scheme in Ryde came together earlier this month to celebrate the people who help make Ryde Village a caring and vibrant community.
The Pride of Ryde Awards, which were held at the Woodland View Scheme on 5th June. The awards recognised the dedicated volunteers, community champions, inspiring individuals, local businesses and organisations that benefit the local community and area of Ryde.
More than 200 nominations were received for people who have supported neighbours, helped local causes or made a positive difference to others, with organisers saying each nomination reflected the impact individuals can have within the community.
Residents, staff and guests from across the local area attended the event, with 25 awards presented during the evening.
The celebrations also included a 3-course meal and live entertainment.
Samantha Cronnelly, Registered Manager at Ryde Village for Southern Housing, said:
“It was a delight to host the Pride of Ryde Awards. It was such an uplifting evening, full of pride, appreciation and togetherness, that made me feel incredibly proud to work amongst such a wonderful community.
“A particular highlight was hearing all the inspiring stories behind the nominations which reflected the kindness, generosity and community spirit that can be found at Ryde Village.”
The awards ceremony comes as Southern Housing marks its 125th anniversary this year.
