Two riders from the Wightlink LCM-Systems Cycle Race Team travelled to Castle Combe in Wiltshire for the Good Friday circuit races.
Returning member Deane Smith rode first but despite efforts to force a breakaway, was unable to escape the fast moving peloton.
After choosing the right wheels he made up places in the final lap and was able to safely come over the line in a top 20 position.
Next Matthew Allsopp took the start line in the Good Friday Easter Classic Elite, 1st & 2nd category race.
There was a full field of 100 riders for the 90-minutes plus one lap race. Race speeds were high, averaging 28mph over the 45 miles.
Early in the race a group of six riders attacked and made a break and Allsopp helped take up the chase, but the group worked well together securing their positions.
Now racing for minor places the main group came over the line safely and Allsopp finished mid-bunch.
