The owners of The Brunswick in Shanklin have announced that they’ve recently purchased another seaside hotel – The Channel View Hotel.
Paul and Jenna Massey say they are super excited to add the well-known hotel to their small and growing company, Fancy Hotels.
The Channel View, situated on Hope Road in Shanklin, will remain unchanged for 2020 but will continue to provide excellent customer service as a 3* hotel. Robert Bingham has been appointed as General Manager.
The hotel comprises of 56 en suite bedrooms, 2 functions rooms, a swimming pool with changing rooms and a therapy room.
Speaking on social media this week, the Massey’s have said:
“We are in very uncertain times however there is one thing I can assure you is our knowledgable staff are ready and waiting to give you excellent service with a smile and memory’s that will last a lifetime.
“We as a company have managed to keep all our core staff on from both hotels and they are all still being paid. We will also be looking to take all 0 hour staff back on as soon as we can return back to work.
“We would like to thank all our staff for there patience and resilience during this time”.
The Brunswick will be open to the public with a pub-style menu and cream teas.
The Channel View Hotel originally went on the market in February 2018 with a price tag of around £1.7million.

Let’s hope that IF they keep it as a hotel, they do very well. My concern is, like many other large buildings on Wight, it is often far more profitable to buy up some ‘distressed’ business on the cheap, then either demolish, or get ‘change of use’ and have it altered, (whichever is the most profitable) to then turn it into living accommodation for a ‘full years’ income, not just a few weeks per year.
Should that happen, then we all see what ‘sort’ fill these seaside flats, all paid for by us via taxes, and all encouraged to come here from mainland low life infested areas, as our council is ‘reimbursed’ for taking such rubbish, knowing ‘they’ will not be living anywhere near the vile scum they happily inflict upon us.
So I hope they do thrive in the most weird time I will likely ever know, if their intention and actions are to keep it as hotels, not a breeding ground for more charity kept low life tenants.
I worked for the owners of The Brunswick and that wasn’t run down, They had been there for about 46 years and needed to retire. I wish the new owners good luck.
Grundy, I too wish them good luck if they do intend to run it as a hotel, not just another doss house for the dregs of the Island, the mainland, and sadly now, the world to be kept at our expense. So I hope your faith is correct as it likely is.
So homeless people shouldn’t be given anywhere to live you say or they can be just as long as it’s not near you.Aren’t you the lucky one to have never been in that position
Their patience.
