James Cockle has been revealed as the second signing for the Wightlink Warriors after this afternoon’s announcement of Brendan Johnson’s return to the Island.
Earlier this week the Warriors were confirmed as being accepted into the National League for 2016 and the club’s management haven’t hung around in announcing the team.
An excited and ready to go James Cockles said:
“To be part of the Warriors is a move I never thought would ever come round after the track closed. I have always loved racing at the island as an away rider and always had good scores there. It’s nice, big and fast and there and they are the tracks I like.
“It’s a new team and I knew I wanted a change of club. I am really very excited about new team, the Islands first year back under new management and what the future holds. Bring on 2016.”
Commercial Director Barry Bishop said:
“Martin and I are absolutely delighted to have secured James for the 2016 season. James is an out and out racer who will lead from the front and we cannot wait to see him in action around Smallbrook.
“I have to say that James’ enthusiasm for what we are doing on the Island and the future is a credit to him and I believe he is going to be a big star with the fans.”
The Warriors Operations Director Martin Widman added:
“To have James joining Brendan who both love the Island’s track is a great start to our team building. Barry and I are working minute of the day to get us the best team and back room team we can as we build for 2016 and the future.
“Making the Warriors one of the best attractions on the Island and something all Islanders will be proud of is something we strive for every day.”
