UPDATED WITH VIDEO: The search for missing 53-year-old Victoria Bailey continues this afternoon (Tuesday) as concerns for her welfare increase.
A large search involving Police, Coastguard and volunteer search and rescue operatives has been in full swing since the early hours of Sunday morning, pausing only due to fading light. The search was initially focused in the Brighstone area, however it is now known that Vicky was last seen getting off of a bus in Freshwater on Saturday afternoon.
Mrs Bailey was reported missing from her home in Wootton.
Today, officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s Marine Unit are searching the sea around Tennyson Down in a RIB, whilst Coastguard teams and Police search the West Wight on land. Mrs Bailey is believed to have walked towards Tennyson Trail, however hasn’t been seen since.
Two weeks ago the body of another missing woman, Patricia Tolfree of Totland, was found on the beach below Tennyson Down.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 08:50 – Island Echo understand the search for Mrs Bailey has been scaled back with volunteer ground crews having been stood down.
Despite searching for days, Police have been unable to locate Victoria, who hasn’t been seen in nearly 4 days.
*Police have now confirmed that the search has been concluded, however are still appealing for information.
UPDATE WEDNESDAY @ 13:20 – The search has resumed this lunchtime, according to Police.
On going investigations have found that Mrs Bailey’s phone, a silver or black Samsung GT E2550, is in the area of Tennyson Down, Freshwater.
Should a member of the public find the phone, they are asked that it is reported to Police and the exact location noted.
UPDATE SATURDAY: The search is said to be continuing this weekend, despite no new information being received.
