riveritchenrydefoursIt was a rather lack luster performance from Ryde’s Boys J16 Coxed Four at the Itchen Eights & Fours Head of the River Race on Sunday (8th February), the first race of the 2015 season for Ryde.

The crew of Dom Douglas, Ben Toms, Joel Smith, Jacob Redstone and Cox Austin Smith started well enough in the three and half mile timed event on the River Itchen, but failed to get into a rhythm. The team did appear to be closing on their opposition in their event until a bit of a “ship wreck”, which forced a brief stop, seriously compromised their time and they finished well down the field.

The Coxed Four were Ryde Rowing Club’s only entry, with thanks to Newport Rowing Club for taking the Ryde boat to the event.
