The duo behind those plans, Barry Bishop and business partner Martin Widman, are asking both existing and potential Islanders fans and local business representatives to attend the Fans Forum, which is to start at 19:00 on 21st May.
Both Barry and Martin believe the forum is a vital step in reviving speedway on the Isle of Wight and hope a large number of supporters, based on the Island and the mainland, potential business partners and sponsors will join them.
The evening, hosted by respected speedway enthusiast, presenter and DJ Chris Popple, will consist of a presentation on progress so far, a projection as to what the future holds, and an opportunity to listen to what one of our premier business partners thinks about this exciting project on the Island.
Looking forward to the event Barry Bishop said:
“Holding a forum in this way will give us the opportunity to inform speedway supporters as well as the media, where we currently stand in terms of bringing speedway back to the fantastic Smallbrook Stadium and introduce some of our sponsors. It will also be an ideal opportunity for people who would like to get more involved to apply for some of the roles we have available.
“The link up with Ryde Superbowl will not be a ‘one off’ event as it were and we are working with the complex managers to mutually support each other’s promotion. For our part we are extremely grateful to Superbowl for their advice on the format and how best to promote the evening, and the venue has been selected to ease travel for those people crossing from the mainland, as well as an excellent location for Islanders with good parking facilities.
“For those coming from the mainland the venue is just a short walk from the town end of Ryde pier and is within easy walking distance of the Catamaran terminal. The closure of the Forum on the night will take into account the Catamaran timetable.”
