In yet another blow to the Isle of Wight economy, local firm John Peck Construction Ltd has entered voluntary liquidation, it has been confirmed.
The civil engineering firm, based out of Pritchetts Way in Rookley, has been an established Island business for some 28 years.
Island Echo understands that the firm went into liquidation on 28th February, with Leonard Curtis tasked with overseeing the process.
The company has completed numerous large-scale commercial projects including at Vestas in Newport, Carisbrooke Business Park and Goddards Brewery, as well as a host of residential projects and bespoke builds.
It is unclear at this time as to the exact nature of the decision and if there will be any job losses as a result.
Since the news broke, the John Peck Construction Ltd website has been suspended..
The news comes amid a flurry of blows to the local economy in recent months… In December, HSS Hire in Newport closed its doors after 25 years, and it was announced 300 jobs were to be lost at Vestas. Then, on Boxing Day, it was suddenly revealed that Wyld in Newport had closed with immediate effect.
Furthermore, Hovertravel has recently cut 17 staff roles and reduced both its morning and evening services, and Kingswood in Bembridge closed with immediate effect in January as a result of its parent company being placed into administration.
It doesn’t end there though… Snows Isle of Wight closed its doors in February due to economic circumstances and Liz Earle has announced it is closing its Head Office in Ryde with the loss of a number of jobs. GTI Glazing in Somerton and John Peck Construction in Rookley have also both gone into liquidation.

That’s the Labour budget for you.
Roll on April Fools day, when Rachel’s budget
really kicks in.
Lol
All these jobs gone but the council are still employing
Why ?
Councils and NHS etc employ loads of unnecessary
staff, majority of them are UNACCOUNTABLE
The public sector wastes billions of pounds of our
taxes on employees.
Since the pandemic, so many public sector workers
are still shirking from home!, would never happen in
the private sector.
