Young rugby players from across the Isle of Wight have enjoyed a special 2-day training camp with Premiership Women’s Rugby player Amy Dale.
Vectis RFC hosted the youth rugby camp at Isle of Wight RFC’s clubhouse in Wootton over the weekend, with 10 boys and girls taking part.
The sessions were run by AD Sports Lab founder Amy Dale, with youngsters learning new skills and taking part in a series of targeted drills across Saturday and Sunday.
Amy, a Premiership Women’s Rugby player and former England U20 international, is also an ambassador for Vectis RFC and was able to pass on her experience from the elite level of the game to the Island’s young players.
There was another surprise in store during the weekend when the youngsters took part in a virtual question-and-answer session with Premiership player and current Red Roses international Millie Hyett.
The young players were able to quiz Millie about her experiences and life playing rugby at the highest level.
The camp comes ahead of the start of Vectis RFC’s new season this Sunday (6th September).
The opening session will be held at Wootton Bridge Recreation Ground from 09:30, although individual age groups may have different start times.
Returning players and newcomers are welcome, with the club offering opportunities throughout the season to train, play matches and take part in tournaments and festivals.
