Organisers of Rhythmtree Festival have confirmed this afternoon (Thursday) that this year’s event will not be taking place.
The announcement comes amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in 2020’s event being cancelled also.
Those behind the event say that they have been thinking long and hard about how they can safely deliver the Rhythmtree experience in a COVID-safe way. However, they have come to the conclusion that it is just not possible, nor is it appropriate this year.
The short time frame between finding out whether the event could take place and the event itself is said to be unworkable.
It was hoped that Rhythmtree would be held in early July. The next festival will now be held between 8th-10th July 2022. That said, 2 smaller single-day events are due to be held on 14th and 15th August 2021.
In a statement, organisers have said:
“Rhythmtree is known for its diverse musical programme and many of the fantastic artists we have booked for this year would be coming from all over the world. In recent weeks, many have already decided to postpone their tour plans until 2022 and it is highly likely that others will make a similar decision in the coming weeks.
“We so wanted to celebrate our Rhythmtree big 10th birthday bash with you all – not bring you a stripped-down version with restrictions. With so many uncertainties we cannot guarantee that we can deliver the Rhythmtree experience that we all know and love. The decision to postpone has not come lightly.
“By July 2022 we hope we will all be free to reunite for the Rhythmtree Festival that we know and love and hopefully with the world a much safer and freer place”.
Anyone with tickets for this year’s event can defer until 2022 by visiting www.rhythmtree.co.uk/refund.

Every other large event is being cancelled this year on the island to keep people safe, so why doesn’t Giddings do the right thing and cancel the festival this years too…. I will tell you why….. GREED.
Here here !!!
Think we all need to step back and relax without the festival …..
All? how wrong you are.
Greed greed greed that is ALL you short-sighted people go on about. Pathetic. If the festival doesn’t happen, the Hospice looses out on £1000’s, my friend business looses around £30k, my regular taxi driver said he will miss out on around £1000 to name but a few. Your blinkered view of the Festival shows there is no thought process at all.
Makes me laugh all these idiots banging on about greed .one assumes none of them take a wage every week in their job ,they do it for free , interesting to know how they pay their bills without money .
there is a difference in working to pay bills and put food on the table, and the excesses on greed.
Tell the Hospice the Festival is about greed. Obviously you don’t have a single clue how a business works, no understanding about operating a business and very obviously you are a very very jealous person of a successful business.
Actually the anger is more because all other similar things are still being cancelled but not festival! same rule for all surely
Nope ..council want too line pockets
