A revised 1-boat timetable will be in operation on the Red Jet service between West Cowes and Southampton between tomorrow (2nd January) and Thursday (4th January), it has been confirmed. The timetable is in force as a result of a technical issue with Red Jet 4, and the fact that Red Jet 6 is currently out of service awaiting approval of repairs.

Elsewhere, on the vehicle ferry service that runs between East Cowes and Southampton, cancellations are also being enforced tomorrow (Tuesday 2nd January). Due to ongoing maintenance on Red Falcon, it has been necessary to cancel the 06:45, 09:45, 12:45, 15:45 and 18:45 from East Cowes, whilst the 05:15, 08:15, 11:15, 14:15 and 17:15 from Southampton have also been pulled. The above-mentioned sailings will now be run as freight-only sailings, with the exception of 14:15 & 15:45 and 17:15 & 18:45 which have been pulled altogether. As a result of the disruption, Red Funnel is bracing its customers to be aware that further delays may be encountered as the Christmas & New Year Holiday period ends and people return/leave the Island.

Absolutely disgusting service. The management have known for years that their ferries are well past their “sell by date”. I know this as at least 8 years ago
a senior manager at that time told me that the car ferries were all knackered and good money was being thrown at rubbish when the only solution was to invest in new ferries. But of course the poor shareholders would be wringing their hands at the very thought of it. Come on Red Funnel – Invest in new ferries and give the paying public a proper and decently priced service.
