Shanklin was awash with light and colour last night (Saturday) as the town’s annual Illuminated Carnival took to the streets.
Crowds lined the route as brightly lit floats, carnival royalty, walking groups and performers made their way through the town, bringing Shanklin’s carnival celebrations to a dazzling conclusion for another year.
The procession got underway from Popham Road at 21:15, with an array of illuminated entries accompanied by music and dancing as darkness fell over the seaside town.
Saturday night’s event followed Shanklin’s Main Carnival on Wednesday.
The illuminated procession brought another strong turnout, with residents and visitors lining the streets to enjoy one of the highlights of the Isle of Wight’s traditional summer carnival season.
