Enthusiasm to clinch ‘as many seats as possible’ in the next Isle of Wight local election was evident at a packed Reform UK meeting in Newport on Saturday, bolstered by the party’s growing popularity in national polls.
Supporters from across the Island – of which there are 1,150 paid-up members – gathered to hear from chair Sarah Morris, who announced a major step forward in the Isle of Wight’s Reform UK branch organisation.
In the lead-up to the 2024 General Election, the Island’s Reformers were organised into 2 separate constituency branches – East Wight and West Wight. Sarah told members that, going forward, there was to be a single Reform UK Isle of Wight Branch with a single leadership and administration team dealing with all aspects of party business.
The change, agreed by Reform UK HQ, is a move to a more sensible and efficient structure for the unique situation of the Island. The announcement was well received by all present.
Having earned the votes of almost 13,000 Islanders in the General Election, not far short of 20% of all votes cast here, Reform’s focus is now very much on building on this firm foundation and winning as many Isle of Wight Council seats as possible.
Recruitment of prospective candidates for the next local election is well underway.
Addressing members and supporters, Sarah said:
“As a combined Island branch we will be in the best position to focus all of our energies on fielding well-motivated and enthusiastic candidates in all 39 IW Council seats at the forthcoming local elections in May – or whenever they take place”.
Reform UK’s Isle of Wight branch is being held by Chair Sarah Morris, Deputy Chair Tony Barry, Secretary Mike Robertson, Campaign Coordinator Geoff Ellis and Treasurer Cliff Williams.
So is “Bring back common sense” a policy? It’s good they have a policy (at long last) but it’s not very specific.
When are they going to give their subscribers an actual vote? At the moment you pay your £25 “membership” into Farage’s company and that’s it, no vote.
It is high time that their is a change to the political landscape, for generations all the main parties have used the system for their own benefit and not for ours. .
But Jordan has postponed the elections, it will give him an extra years gold plated pension.
Hence extortionate council tax increases.
Public Sector pensions should be capped!
Not this year as Angela Rayner has cancelled local elections for nine council areas the island being one of them,
Labour Rigging it because they know they lose seats. Shameful
Why should I can buy my Council House Rayner
BUT YOU CAN’T BUY YOURS

Lol
The country is in a right state
Conservatives are useless, they probed that in
the last 14 years.
This Labour Government have only be in power 7 months
and they appear to be worse.
Liberals are what they are, that leaves Reform,
Reform don’t have an idea when it comes to running a
country, majority of Reformers are not the brightest bunch.
The country is doomed!
Councillors don’t get pensions!
Reform have no deliverable policies but like to flannel the public into thinking Reform can change everything. That confirms that they are Pure novices playing at politics. Even their MPs are novices.
They are still WEF run
