Wightlink-LCM Systems Cycle Race Team riders Matthew Allsopp and Stuart Waite took part in their first race of the season at the James Atherton Memorial Race in Owslebury near Winchester, on Sunday (20th March).
The race was mainly filled with 2nd category riders and started off at a high pace, with a group of 5 riders making a break.
With a strong team at the front of the field the pressure was always on, and the pace averaged 25mph+ for the first 20miles.
Riders were getting dropped left, right and centre. Whilst an attack was made on a hill the two Wightlink-LCM Systems riders got dropped from the main group and despite chasing back on for 5 miles the race was over for them and they got pulled out by a following car.
It was a good, if tough, re-introduction to racing for the pair and they will be racing again today (Good Friday) at Goodwood Race Circuit in an elite, 1st & 2nd category event.
