Police have seized a silver Volvo believed to be involved in this morning’s hit-and-run crash on Long Lane, which resulted in major rush hour disruption for motorists heading into Newport.
As first reported by Island Echo, emergency services were called to the scene of a 3-vehicle collision between Staplers Road and Robin Hill Roundabout at 08:04.
A Ford Transit vehicle transporter and a Ford Eco Sport sustained front-end damage in the crash.
A third vehicle – described at the time as possibly a Volvo – failed to stop at the scene. Police launched an appeal for information and began efforts to locate the vehicle.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that a silver Volvo S40 has been seized as part of their ongoing investigation.
The vehicle – which does not have a valid MOT or tax – sustained front-end damage consistent with the crash.
No arrests have been made at this time.
Anyone with information about the collision is urged to contact Police on 101.
No valid MOT or Tax. Hence the reason for not stopping
A typical island motorist, there are many of them
out there.
What a lowlife? Who now pays for the other people’s vehicles? Cos they now have to claim on their insurance as the lowlife wasn’t insured. Make the lowlife pay out of their pocket? Name and shame the lowlife! Makes my blood boil!
Needs banging up, the law is slack.
Was it Mr Lo Lyfe ?
What about Mrs Lo Lyfe
Lol
I saw uneducated Numpty’s speeding along
Beaper Shute this evening overtaking on dangerous
bends.
There needs to be more law and order on island Roads.
The speed camera van needs placing along Beaper Shute
to catch the Numpty’s.
