Heavy rain failed to dampen spirits at Westridge Golf Centre as members took to the course for the club’s postponed Dawn Golf competition.
Originally due to be played in June, the competition finally went ahead on Saturday (29th August), despite the wet conditions.
Handling the weather best were Paul Tucker, Walter Mallinson and Mark Royl, who took victory ahead of Marc Dempsey, Reg Miller and Claire Matejowsky.
Chris Wilkinson, Steve Hull and Paddy Kearney completed the top 3.
The shotgun-start competition was followed by a social get-together and breakfast.
Earlier in the week, Philip Spreckley topped Division 1 in Wednesday’s Medal with a nett 63, winning on countback from Ollie Kearney. Kim Meguyer was 3rd on 64, with Trevor Gosset 4th on 65.
In Division 2, Melvyn Pratley took victory with a nett 64, followed by Steve Sansford and Alan Harnett, both on 66, with Sansford taking 2nd on countback.
On Sunday (30th August), Martin Whitehead produced the standout Medal score of the week with a nett 62.
Chris Wilkinson took 2nd with 68 on countback, ahead of Alan Harnett in 3rd and Ollie Kearney in 4th, who also both returned nett 68s.
