Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club ended the regular Hants & Dorset season with a pair of wins at the BTC regatta, held at Weston Shore in Southampton.
Connie Batley-Smith had a convincing win in the Ladies novice sculls; this earned her promotion to coastal junior status for next season and also secured the club the Hants & Dorset Ladies Novice sculls championship for 2026 with the club’s 5th win of the season.
The club’s strength in depth in ladies sculling meant they were able to boat 5 of the 11 entries in the race.
Isaac King won the Open novice sculls by half a length, this was not only his second win in this event but also it was only his second race after previously winning at Coalporters earlier in the season.
Issac will also contest the coastal junior status next season.
There were runner up spots for Esme Walters in the Ladies Junior sculls and also Evie Crew and Evie Selway in the ladies Junior pair, an excellent result in their first race in this event and the girls J16 quad also secured a second-place finish.
The Ladies masters crew of Anna Scott, Stella Gamble, Lisa Atkin, Jane Denby-Roach and Garry Walters ended their season with an excellent third place finish. The club’s crews are now preparing for the South Coast Championships on September 12th at Deal.
