A man seen touching himself moments before walking into a home in Wootton – much to the shock of the homeowner inside – is being sought by Police.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary would like to speak to the individual pictured as part of enquiries into an incident which occurred on Station Road, Wootton at around 19:40 yesterday evening (Thursday).
Island Echo understands that a woman was startled when a male entered her property uninvited. A review of CCTV footage then revealed he had been loitering in the garden, appearing to be touching his penis.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with enquiries underway to establish the full circumstances.
Sergeant Matthew Browne, of Isle of Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team, has said:
“I understand the concern that an incident such as this one can cause within the local community, but I want to reassure you all that we are working hard to progress our investigation.
“Local officers will be in the area throughout the day, carrying out further enquiries and completing follow-up reassurance patrols. If you see them on your travels, please come over and speak to them. They will be happy to hear from you, discuss any concerns and answer any questions.
“In the meantime, we will be sure to keep you all updated as much as we are able to.”
Anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident is asked to contact Police on 101, quoting incident number 44250068201.
The same applies to anyone with any footage which may assist the investigation, including doorbell camera, dash cam, mobile phone, or any other CCTV.
Too many Dicks on the island.
It’s about time IW Council rolled out islandwide CCTV
keep our island a safe place.
To pay for this, roll out islandwide parking permit
charges.
IW Council have no idea how to stop crime.
Unfortunately our wonderful council have a very poor track record with CCTV. Having promised to increase the security of Newport, following some nasty fights and attacks, they spent tens of thousands on installing CCTV cameras around the town, then opened up a wonderful ‘state of the art’ monitoring suite and employed a couple of staff to keep their eyes on the areas covered and report and direct Police to incidents. Having undertaken this wonderful safety scheme, they then sacked the staff, closed the monitoring suite and left everyone to fend for themselves again. The chances of this lot giving a toss about perverts wandering the streets and very slim indeed, and the odds of any money being pumped into yet another CCTV scheme are zero, unless a councillor fancies a passion project like floating bridges or ridiculous traffic light systems to replace a roundabout et al.
I think we need cctv to protect us from your wild ideas.
If he done that too my house with my wife inside I wouldn’t be responsible for my actions
And you would end up inside for your
actions.
The Law is strange.
Maybe people should consider actually locking their doors and windows to avoid persons being able to just walk in ?
