Police and paramedics have responded to concerns for the welfare of a man on Ryde Pier this afternoon (Thursday).
Officers responded to the seafront at Ryde at 13:00, accompanied by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service (IOWAS).
It was halfway up the pier that the male was located and handed into the care of IOWAS, who transported the male to hospital.
This latest incident comes just days after a large-scale emergency response to a male walking waist-deep in the sea whilst evading Police – https://www.islandecho.co.uk/rescue-teams-deployed-to-man-evading-police-in-the-sea-at-ryde/.

Just leave him alone, he’ll be fine.
It’s becoming a regular thing for using other readers names on IE, I’ve never witnessed so many nutters that live on this island….must be something in the water…
Whose name are they using?
Well if you think you’ll never suffer from depression then your wrong I’m afraid and you don’t have to be a so called nutter either idiot
How do you define nutter I suffer from PTSD after 2 tours in Afghanistan so everybody who just has a bad day is a nutter
And the comments vanish because they are cowardly Yellow bellied trolls, who have no idea of fighting in a foreign country, losing friends in the worst possible way, the closest thing they get to action is open g the cupboard door of the broom cupboard they life in. Thank you for your service I hope you get the help you truly deserve.
and millions in the two world wars just got on with it afterwards, without whining and crying.
Really! They had little choice did they, ever heard of shell shock, after the 1st world war they were called cowards, shot by firing squads, given a white feather and humiliated in public. There was no understanding of PTSD. According to you they carried on ” without whining and crying “. No one was interested in those days, just like you now.
Seeing as the entire country either fought in the world wars or was on the end of enemy bombing, it goes without saying that people just got on with it and didn’t whine and cry afterwards. These were the days of stiff upper lip, soldier on, get on with it, whereas now it is whine, cry, weak, cant cope, give me benefits to live on, because i am too lazy and weak willed to work.
if it wasn’t for the strong minded, hard working, never give up men and women of the previous generations, hand wringing whiny excuse makers like you wouldn’t be here.
for the record, I am friends with and associated with people who fought in the1st gulf war of 1991 and the falklands in 1982 and they don’t do any of the whining I hear today.
Err…….shell shock?
Or perhaps Island Echo just weren’t there to report on it.
I hope he gets all the help he needs . There are a lot of people with mental health problems . We need to be kind
I mostly agree with you, but have to also be careful the kindness does not boomerang back in a bad way, as often is the case.. !! Some people can be so cruel to those that help.. Not as simple as many years back, could give someone a helping hand, or a bit of guidance, and one was thanked and on the person went. NOW, oh no !! The person in need, has to be searched, breathalysed, drug wiped, and assessed, BEFORE any help is given.. don’t want to get hit by a sharpie, foul mouth, spitting , etc etc etc !!
Thank you “lockdowns”
