A hard-hitting documentary examining threats to the UK’s food supply, health and national security is to be screened in Brading this weekend, followed by a community discussion about what can be done locally.
Brading Town Council will show The People’s Emergency Briefing at the New Town Hall at 18:30 on Saturday (12th September).
The 50-minute film features 9 experts giving their assessment of risks associated with the climate and nature crisis, with the project aiming to establish a common understanding of the issues and encourage local action.
The screening is free to attend, although tickets are required because of the limited capacity of the New Town Hall.
It follows several screenings of The People’s Emergency Briefing across the Isle of Wight, including events in Ventnor earlier this year.
Around 40 people attended a screening at Salisbury Gardens in Ventnor in June, where discussions focused on issues including the Island’s biodiversity, food resilience and the possibility of creating a Climate Hub to help local parishes share information and ideas.
The People’s Emergency Briefing follows the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster in November 2025, when experts presented evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential figures.
The subsequent film is being shown at town and community halls across the UK, with organisers using the screenings to encourage conversations about both the risks and potential responses.
Paul Garratt, Mayor of Brading, has said:
“The Peoples’ Emergency Briefing is a 50 minute documentary film providing an unfiltered assessment of the latest threats to UK food supply, health and national security from nine leading experts.
“It aims to cut through disinformation, establish a common understanding of the risks, and support constructive local action.
“This film is being shown across the UK in town and community halls and is spreading out across the world.”
The Brading screening will be followed by an informal discussion about the issues raised and what preparations could potentially be made within the community.
Paul has added:

The event takes place at the New Town Hall, Brading, PO36 0DF, from 18:30 on Saturday.
