A historic East Wight farm barn in the Isle of Wight National Landscape could be transformed into a 2-bedroom house.
Mr Kennerly is seeking planning permission for alterations, landscaping and the conversion of a redundant timber structure at Duxmore Farm east of Robin Hill Country Park.
The building is a typical example of an 18th century livestock farm but was altered during the 1800s and 1900s, according to a statement submitted by Andrew White Planning Consultancy.
Today, the barn is no longer suited to agricultural storage and residential conversion provides an excellent opportunity to save it from decay, decline, and ultimate loss, the document notes;
“The existing shape and form of the building will be preserved and the accommodation will be provided over 2 floors.”
“The ground floor will comprise an entrance hall leading into a boot room/utility area, WC, office, bedroom with ensuite bathroom, master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and French doors, central snug area with doors onto patio area and stairs to first floor.
“The first floor is arranged on an open plan format across the entire length of the building, bridging the double height stairwell and comprises zones for kitchen, dining and lounge, the latter with French doors out onto a balcony.”
County Hall’s public consultation on proposal 25/01728/FUL closes on 15th January and a decision is expected on 5th February.
