Cyclists completing this year’s Isle of Wight Randonnee will take home a brand-new finisher’s medal as the popular round-Island challenge enters a new chapter under Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
Randonnee with Mountbatten Isle of Wight will take place on 6th September, with riders tackling the event’s 100km route around the Island.
A newly-created medal will be presented to every rider who completes the route and is included within the £15 entry fee.
The gold-coloured design features the outline of the Isle of Wight, a cyclist in action and a bicycle-chain edge, giving participants a lasting memento of completing the challenge.
The traditional Randonnee pin badge is also making a return for 2026, this time sporting a distinctive Mountbatten-yellow design.
Featuring the outline of the Isle of Wight alongside Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s sunflower branding, the collectors’ badge will be available to purchase on the day for £5.
This year’s event will be the first Randonnee organised by Mountbatten Isle of Wight, marking a new chapter for a cycling tradition which dates back to 1985.
Local schools, community groups and organisations will operate checkpoints around the Isle of Wight, continuing the community involvement which has been a feature of the event for 4 decades.
Entry fees will help cover the cost of staging the Randonnee, while fundraising and donations will support Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s work providing care to people facing death, dying and bereavement.
The charity says 85% of its care is delivered in people’s homes across the Isle of Wight, with further day and outpatient services provided at the John Cheverton Centre and its inpatient unit in Newport.
Online entries remain open until Friday (28th August), while cyclists will also be able to register on the day.
More information and online registration can be found here.

I cannot wait for the event to be over
IT CAUSES NOTHING BUT DISRUPTION TO MOTORISTS
WHO PAY TO BE ON THE ROADS!
Island Roads are not designed for such events, where are all
the cycle lanes!!
the cycle lanes are there the poxy lycra terrorist’s refuse to use them binfeild road a prime example
The numpties don’t use the cycle lane along Fairlee Road
or the waste of money cycle lane at Ryde Interchange
FINE THEM
Good Lord, what a moaning minnie! I for one will be taking part in this lovely community event. Anyone who pays any kind of tax pays for the upkeep of roads. The biggest disruption by far on this Island’s roads is caused by the profusion of cars, just try driving round Coppins Bridge! Your anti cycling hysteria is just sad.
lycra louts are plain arrogant, simple. Next time one comes to lean on my wing mirror at traffic lights, I might open my door, accident of course.
Roads are mostly funded by general taxation. Over 80% of regular cyclists own at least 1 car. Regular cyclists are more likely than non-cyclists to own 2 cars. Tomorrow’s Isle of Randonee is likely to raise over £100,000 for Mountbatten. Most Islanders welcome the Randonee, which has been running for 40 years. Cheer up!
Cant wait for it to be over, lycra idiots thinking its the tour de france, last year riding 5 wide on a single lane through brighstone, one idiot even got his phone out to take a selfie!
clubs come down from mainland, and literally race each other around the island,no curtesy whatsoever for other road users, theythink its all just for them, personally i hope it absolutely p###es it down and they all get punctures.
Me too, they are a bigger pain in the a@se than piles!
Piles you can treat, numpties you CAN’T!
These arrogant cyclists while I whole heartedly agree with Mountbatten they shout at the top of their voices ‘roundabout ‘ & scream at each other early in the Morning I hate these T…S entitled idiots xxxx
