The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard were called out to Colwell Bay in the West Wight yesterday evening (Thursday) when a person fell off the sea wall.
The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked at 19:18 to assist paramedics from the ambulance service in moving a casualty, who had sustained injuries following their seaside adventure.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were also tasked to the scene but were quickly stood down before they could leave the station.
The casualty was transferred to the awaiting ambulance and conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
The incident was brought to a close within an hour.

Most fortuitous that the tide, being extremely high, with gale force winds never washed them out to sea, or battered them onto the rocks below.
The tide would be low.
What a pratt!!
What a twat and complete waste of money.
We where down at the bay. Just before 7 the tide was out it was not sleepy on the wall so what would make someone slip
He was drunk coming out of the hut
He fell outside the hut restaurant head first onto the concrete below, after appearing to be very, very intoxicated. It took well over an hour for an ambulance to to appear. If he had been a guest at the Hut, why was he allowed to drink so much? Why did the ambulance take so long? Ultimately the result of personal irresponsibility; I hope he’s OK, though It looked like a very serious incident.
