54-year-old Gordon ‘Tosh’ McIntosh died from multiple injuries sustained after being hit by a motorcycle in the days before Christmas, an inquest opening has today (Monday) heard.
It was just before 06:00 on 19th December that emergency services rushed to Horsebridge Hill – the main road between Newport and Cowes – following a serious collision between a pedestrian and a motorcycle.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, Mr McIntosh, who originally hails from Glasgow, died in the ambulance on the short journey to St Mary’s Hospital.
At this afternoon’s inquest opening, held by His Majesty’s Senior Coroner for the Isle of Wight, Caroline Sumeray, it was heard that Mr McIntosh had been visiting a friend in Hogan Road on the night of 18th December last year. He left during the early hours of the morning and was discovered by a member of the public lying on the ground at the mouth of Hogan Road.
Mr McIntosh’s address was given as the caravan at the log yard on Horsebridge Hill – almost directly opposite Hogan Road.
A post-mortem carried out on 27th December concluded he died from multiple injuries, with other investigations pending.
Senior Coroner Caroline Sumeray has adjourned the case to a later date.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary is yet to name or tribute Mr McIntosh. The force’s enquiries into the collision continue.
That is so sad, RIP X
