The principal of Christ the King College, Pat Goodhead, is to retire from the job after nearly 10 years.
Mrs Goodhead has held the position of Principal since September 2008 but will stand down on 31st March, citing her age as a key reason. She has also said that it is the ‘right time’ for the College.
The Governing Body of the Carisbrooke-based school were notified of Pat’s intention to retire from the post yesterday (Monday).
“Pat has been a fantastic head teacher and leader of the College community. From the very inauguration of the College she has been the driving force behind its high standards and its tangible Christian ethos, an achievement that was rightly recognised by the award to her by His Holiness the Pope of the title of a Dame of Saint Gregory.
“In Christ the King College, Pat Goodhead has created a beacon of excellence in Island education. Pat can be proud of her contribution to the lives of so many young men and women who have gone out into the world to pursue careers and start families of their own, touched by her influence on their lives.”
Parents are expected to receive a letter about Goodhead’s retirement later on today.
