Victoria Avenue in Shanklin is set to remain closed for the next 3 weeks to allow scaffolding to be erected for maintenance work on a private property.
The road closure, immediately before the junction with Shanklin High Street, is expected to remain in place for the full advertised 21-day period.
Scaffolding has been erected to enable roof works, guttering repairs and external redecoration to be carried out.
As the scaffolding extends into the carriageway, a localised closure has been implemented to protect road users and those working at height.
Island Roads says there is insufficient space to safely accommodate the scaffolding without affecting the carriageway, meaning the closure could not be avoided.
Southern Vectis buses are diverting via Florence Road and Grange Road for the duration of the works.
Motorists travelling towards Shanklin from the Whiteley Bank direction can still access the town via St John’s Road.
Island Roads has said the closure has been coordinated with other planned highway works to avoid clashes, with the timing scheduled outside of the main tourism season in a bid to minimise disruption.
