The work on a section of Beaper Shute between Carpenters Road and Beaper Farm will be undertaken overnight between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 over 4 nights beginning on Monday 10th October. The road will be closed during resurfacing work and a diversion will be in place.
The official diversion route is via Appley Road, Calthorpe Road, Pondwell Hill, Nettlestone Hill, Nettlestone Green, Eddington Road, Upper Green Road, Embankment Road, High St(Bembridge), Mill Road, Sandown Road, New Road, High St (Brading) and Rowborough Lane.
Ashey Road and Green Lane will remain open as normal throughout the works, providing an alternative diversion for motorists.
Island Roads project manager Derek Benfield said:
“Not only are we undertaking this work overnight, it has also been programmed for outside of the main holiday season given that there are camping facilities in this area.
“Though we have made every effort to reduce disruption, it is impossible to undertake improvement work on a major road such as this without causing some inconvenience and we thank motorists in advance for their co-operation.”
