VIDEO: The Isle of Wight’s Olympic hopeful, Kim Murray is in America this week as she continues her 120kph+ Skeleton training, with extra time now added to her PledgeSports fundraising efforts.
26-year-old Kim, who is originally from Ryde, has only just returned from Winterberg in Germany but is now on the other side of the Atlantic at Lake Placid in New York. Her goal is to compete in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
This week’s training is yet another challenge for the former Ryde High School student having not learnt a new track so far this season. In March, Kim will return to Lake Placid for her first race in the North America Cup.
Last month Island Echo reported on Kim’s efforts to raise £2000 through the crowdfunding website PledgeSports, a target which has been smashed with a total of £2400 already donated.
To help Kim along on her grueling training season, the crowdfunding period has been extended for another 16 days to allow even more Islanders to support the Island’s potential future Olympic medalist.
Speaking about the crowdfunding campaign, Kim said:
“I cannot thank each and every supporter enough, including so many from the Isle of Wight.
“I set my target not knowing how the campaign would be received. The target of £2000 that I set does not cover my living costs, but does contribute to them massively.
“I am still seeking support and am offering a variety of rewards in return including meeting or training with me, social media shout outs, a monthly newsletter and appearances which can be motivational or educational depending on your needs”.
