The Village Inn in Shanklin has closed its doors as a result of a member of staff testing positive for coronavirus.
Patrons who have been inside the premises and potentially in contact with the infected member of staff will be contacted through the NHS track and trace system in due course, should they need to self-isolate.
Those who are told to self-isolate must do so for a period of 10 days.
In announcing the news on their Facebook page, the pub says that the doors will remain closed until at least 30th December.
The Village Inn is based in Shanklin’s Old Village.

It is OBVIOUS that all these crowds of people coming here from higher tiers and those from the highest will infect staff and customers in all our pubs.
Bembridge is full of such people from London, and as they eat out then anyone local must be crazy to go to the pub now.
Wait until they have left, for you will place yourself and everyone you come into contact with from this new mutant virus strain other wise.
Avoid all out of main town pubs for ‘they’ are the most at risk from such visitors now.
Yes Bembridge is full of second home owners who do eat out, but it is a free country. You would do the same if you were stuck in a high tier location and could escape. They pay thousands a year for a second home here in c.tax.
Most Islanders have followed the rules hence we are one of only a few areas that earnt a tier 1 rating, not for irresponsible 2nd home owners to come against the rules and spread the virus, we have kept under some level of control. Since the end of the last lockdown and the influx of 2nd home owners and holiday makers we have had almost 40% of all our cases, 10% in just the last week. So 2nd home owners and holiday makers obey the rules, regulations and dont come here, if you are here GO HOME (not 2nd home) and whilst still here isolate, obey the rules of your own tier and dont eat out, before you kill someone.
Actually we wouldn’t some people do the right thing ….shame toffy nose twats with the 2nd homes don’t give a shit
Avoid pubs until the Christmas holiday season is over. They are filled with non locals now, as many come here to eat out. We don’t need to as we live here and can go at any time.
I worry that even if the staff are really careful, that when they touch the side of a glass that someone infected has drunk from, they only have to not fully wash their hands once, and the next served will fall victim within days.
I will wait until two weeks after the masses have left before considering going to any Island pub now, ironically those with better food are the MOST at risk now. Avoid or risk paying one hell of a price, just for a plate of food and not financially.
I have just been to the dairymans daughter at arraton myself and my family had to show proof that we live on the island before we were allowed to our table.
Non island people were turned. Away.
Wish all pubs and restaurants on our island put our safety before profit
