George Piper will join the Wightlink Warriors reserve pack in the number 8 jacket when speedway returns to the Isle of Wight next year.
Ahead of the new season in March, George will enjoy plenty of track time.
Looking forward to the challenge, George said:
“I’m really pumped to be part of the Warriors next year, it’s topped off a lot of hard work getting my new set up for this season. I’ve got some decent kit sorted and am really looking forward to being back on a speedway bike and doing what I love to do the most.
“Gareth at G Fonteneau contracts, the guys at speedway portal, my dad and my partner Charlotte have been absolutely fantastic help putting everything together – being surrounded by such a great team of people has really been a driving force in what is shaping up to a successful comeback.
“I’ll be looking to carry this momentum into the 2016 season and the team is already looking awesome so I’ll be giving 110% to keep up with some of the talent coming to the island in the coming season”.
Commercial Director Barry Bishop said:
“Martin and I are delighted to have George in the team. The number 8 jacket is an important position at the Warriors as we look to develop our riders, 1 – 8, to reach their potential. George has a great support network around him and he is very keen to make an impression.
“I am sure we will see George making swift progress around Smallbrook and he is a great addition to the squad.”
Meanwhile, the Warriors and My First Skid have welcomed Gary Ball of Gary Ball Racing to the team.
Gary has increased his involvement with the Warriors and joins Andy Perring as part of My First Skid speedway school. Gary has already agreed a sponsorship package with the Warriors for 2016 and now extended that by joining the rider training team at My First Skid.
Gary said:
“Barry and I go back a long way, as does my relationship with speedway on the Isle of Wight. When there was news of the clubs return, I attended the first fans forum with Barry and Martin Widman and it has grown from there really. I have already been part of the working parties at the stadium focussing on the track with Martin and I cannot wait to see the bikes once again in action at Smallbrook.”
