The original Wadhams clock has returned to Newport High Street on the Isle of Wight following restoration, with the historic timepiece by the Newport & Carisbrooke Heritage Society.
The clock, once a familiar sight in the town, was rescued during renovation works thanks to Isle of Wight resident Viv Nobbs, who ensured the much-loved piece of local history was preserved.
It has since been carefully restored by Councillor Matthew Price, allowing the clock to be returned to public view for the first time since its removal.
The restored clock is now displayed at the Newport & Carisbrooke Community Council building at 64 High Street, opposite Correo Lounge. Alongside the clock, visitors can view information about the restoration project, historic photographs and original components from the timepiece.
Newport & Carisbrooke Heritage Society have thanked everyone involved in helping bring the project to completion.
Particular recognition has been given to Viv Nobbs for saving the clock, Matthew Price for undertaking the restoration work, as well as John Farthing, Indigo Graphics and the Island Photo Community Hub for their support.
Members of the public are being invited to visit the display and see the restored clock for themselves. The society says it hopes residents will enjoy seeing the historic Newport landmark once again.
