More than 2,300 properties are without power in Newport this morning (Thursday) due to a network fault, which has also seen traffic lights fail at locations such as Coppins Bridge.
It was just before 06:55 that an outage hit the PO30 region, affecting some 120 postcodes in the Staplers area of Newport.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is aware of the fault and engineers are being deployed to restore supplies.
A total of 2,325 customers are said to be without mains electricity.
No estimate repair time has yet been establish.
UPDATE @ 07:29 – Power has been restored to the majority of properties, but 222 homes and businesses are still without electricity this morning.
SSEN estimates that services should be restored by 10:00.
