Newport IW Football Club continued their pre-season friendly campaign on Saturday afternoon with a 1-0 home win against locals West Wight FC.
The impressive Liam Newbold struck the crossbar from 25 yards, but it was an early second-half goal by Joe Butcher from close range that sealed the win.
It was Newport’s second win inside a week and the Port now look forward to an away match at Royal Marines on Thursday (23rd July) before a big home fixture against Worthing Utd next Saturday (25th July) from the Sussex County Football Premier League.
Newport will also play Wightcroft & Barton at St George’s Park on Thursday (30th July) in their final pre-season friendly.
