Up to 30mm of rainfall is expected overnight and into Monday morning with a new yellow weather warning issued for the Isle of Wight. IW Met Service says that spells of heavy rain will affect the Island through the early hours of tomorrow morning with totals of 10-15mm in the worst affected places. A 2nd spell of rain will likely move through between 06:00-10:00 bringing a further 10-15mm of rain in places. Totals across the Island for the period will vary between 15 and 20mm in general, but locally as high as 30mm. Jamie Russell, Chief Forecaster at IW Met Service, says:
“The ground is still very saturated across the majority of the island, so just 15-20mm of rainfall can potentially lead to flooding”.
The weather warning is in force from 01:00 until 11:00 tomorrow (Monday 13th November 2023). Islanders should be aware of further flooding of low-lying land with the risk of rivers breaching their banks.
