In May, the “Dynamo” stadium named after Valerii Lobanovskyi in Kyiv hosted the charity auction “Buy a lot from the Legends of Ukrainian Sports so that orphans have a football field.” The event aimed to raise funds for the construction of a sports ground for orphans from the Zhytomyr orphanage.
The Andrii Matiukha Foundation supported the initiative. Representatives of the foundation emphasized the importance of uniting sports and charity to support socially vulnerable children.
Unique lots from Ukrainian sports legends
“Such projects reveal the true power of unity — when sports, charity, and humanity create opportunities for those who need them most,” said Andrii Matiukha, president of the charitable foundation.
The initiative was supported by FC Dynamo, the Ukrainian Journalists’ National Team, and the “News Center” information agency. The auction aimed to collect resources for the construction of a modern inclusive football field on the premises of the Children’s Medical Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Center in Zhytomyr. It is expected that not only the center’s residents but also more than 6,000 children from the region will be able to engage in sports there.
Among the lots put up for auction were unique items from the world of sports. These included jerseys signed by Oleksandr Zinchenko and Illia Zabarnyi, footballs from Andrii Shevchenko and players of the national team, boxing gloves from Vitalii Klychko and Oleksandr Usyk, tennis shoes from player Serhii Stakhovskyi, and a collectible coin from the undisputed world boxing champion.
The Andrii Matiukha Foundation continues to support initiatives in the fields of sports, education, and medicine, as well as projects for veterans and the strengthening of national defense. These steps are part of the foundation’s long-term strategy to promote community development.
