A radical overhaul of the Isle of Wight Council’s governance model has brought in a host of new committees and chairs.
County Hall has transitioned from a cabinet system to one run along committee lines, an arrangement that allows more councillors a greater say in decision-making, according to the Local Government Association.
The Conservative representative for Lake South, Cllr Paul Brading, will head up the children’s services, education and skills committee, with the Liberal Democrats’ Cllr Michael Lilley as vice-chair.
Meanwhile, Newport Central’s Alliance independent, Cllr Julie-Jones Evans, will chair the economy, regeneration, transport and infrastructure committee, with Sandown South’s Conservative representative, Cllr Ian Ward, as vice-chair.
On the adult social care, public health and housing needs committee, Newchurch, Havenstreet and Ashey Conservative, Cllr Clare Mosdell, will take the helm, chairing alongside vice-chair Cllr Sarah Redrup, the Liberal Democrat representative for Wootton Bridge.
2 Conservatives will fill the chair and vice-chair positions on the planning committee: Cllr Warren Drew, who represents Ryde South East, and Fairlee and Whippingham’s Cllr Matthew Price.
The list of chairs and vice-chairs for each committee is:
- Adult social care, public health and housing needs committee: Cllr Clare Mosdell (chair) and Cllr Sarah Redrup (vice-chair)
- Appeals committee: Cllr Karl Love (chair)
- Audit and governance committee: Cllr Peter Spink (chair)
- Children’s services, education and skills committee: Cllr Paul Brading (chair) and Cllr Michael Lilley (vice-chair)
- Economy, regeneration, transport and infrastructure: Cllr Julie Jones-Evans (chair) and Cllr Ian Ward (vice-chair)

- Planning committee: Cllr Warren Drew (chair) and Cllr Matthew Price (vice-chair)
- Policy, finance and resources committee: Cllr Phil Jordan (chair) and Cllr Andrew Garratt (vice-chair)

So Bacon is back, why!!! Why do we need Religious education ??? This is bloody ridiculous, infrastructure that’s a joke, build and build more house and no more hospital, typical jobs for Jordans mates. Never mind next May Reform will get rid of this council. Looks to me let’s get what we can take before that happens. Makes me sick.
Nothing will change under Reform, believe me.
Far too many no hoppers spunging off our council tax.
25% of our Council tax charge goes to their lucrative
pension pots, it is scandalous.
I have no time for any of these overpaid persons, they
are bleeding the island dry.
Roll on devolution
I wonder how much it costs the island in
Salaries, expenses and pensions for these
unnesseccary persons.
My approximate guess is £9,000,000.00 a year
if not more.
Let’s remember, we are all in this together
Lol
