Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 30s died following an incident in Ryde overnight, with 3 people arrested on suspicion of his murder.
Police say that they were called at 03:17 this morning (Sunday) to a report of a man who had been seriously assaulted in Park Road, Ryde.
Officers and paramedics attended, but sadly a man in his 30s was pronounced dead whilst en-route to hospital.
His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
As a result, a 27-year-old man from Sandown, a 27-year-old man from Ryde and a 24-year-old woman from Shanklin have been arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in custody at this time.
As first reported by Island Echo, Armed Police surrounded an address off Park Road during the early hours of this morning with specialist officers from both sides of the Solent drafted in.
Now, forensic investigators from the mainland have begun their investigations in a bid to piece together the events of Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Forensic suits have been donned and photographs are being taken of the scene – both inside and outside of a Park Close home.
Attention is being paid to a red Nissan Pixo that appears to have been dumped at the side of the road on Dover Street.
Cordons remain in place at the junctions with Dover Street, Belvedere Street and Bennet Street – manned by officers from Portsmouth, Winchester and Andover – as investigations continue.
DCI Andrea Douglas, who is overseeing the investigation today, has said:
