The Priory Bay Hotel near St Helens could soon be one of the most prestigious hotels on the Island if a multi-million pound development of the site is approved by the Isle of Wight Council.
Plans submitted to the Council’s planning department show a grand scheme to add a 2-storey extension to the existing hotel and conversion of existing outbuildings to provide 14 hotel suites, a restaurant, bar and spa. Up to 56 holiday cottages, 10 tree houses and 12 woodland retreats are also planned.
The hotel will also benefit from the provision of gym, village barn, farm shop, welcome barn, internal access roads and parking. The existing outdoor swimming pool will be relocated and extensive landscaping will take place across the 60 acre estate. Once complete, The Priory bay Hotel will compete with country house hotels across the UK mainland.

Something that will allow it to compete with Country House Hotels across the mainland and in doing so create skilled service and tourism employment in addition to additional leisure facilities for the Islands residents and visitors. This is hugely important to the Isle of Wight to enhance its standing as a leading tourism destination.”
