Carisbrooke Road in Newport will close as a through route from today (Monday) for the next 2 weeks, while Southern Water carries out essential repairs.
The road closure has been put in place to enable Southern Water to undertake repairs to its network.
While the closure is in force, Island Roads will also complete repairs to a footway, a roadside gulley and damaged railings, avoiding the need for a separate closure at a later date.
In a reminder issued ahead of the works, Island Roads said:
“A reminder Carisbrooke Rd will be closed as a through route for 2 weeks from Monday while Southern Water carry out essential repairs.
“We’ll use the same closure to finish our own repairs to a footway, gulley and railings. Co-ordinating work will limit disruption.”
The closure affects one of the main routes into Newport from the West Wight and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys over the next fortnight and follow the signed diversion route.
