Put a spring in your step and help Islanders affected by cancer by taking part in Move it May for Wessex Cancer Trust.
Whether you want to organise a group work out, take on a personal challenge or host your own sports match, the charity’s new campaign is all about getting active and moving more in May.
During the month, Island schools will also have the opportunity to sign up for special ‘Wolly Work Outs’ – mini exercise classes for pupils – led by the charity’s mascot, Wolly the lion.
Wessex Cancer Trust’s CEO, Cait Allen, said:
“Being physically active can help to protect against cancer, improve your long-term health and make you feel great.
“It’s up to you how you decide to move more. It could be anything from setting yourself a goal to complete a certain number of steps, to tackling an ultramarathon.
“We’re excited that younger members of the community will also be able to get involved by joining our lovable lion, Wolly, for a mini work out in their schools.
“It’s such a fun way of getting active and it will go a long way in helping raise money for Island people affected by cancer, too.
“Just £100 could pay for a month’s supply of the products needed for the complementary therapies we provide in our cancer Support Centres. Raising £400 could fund a ten-session one-to-one support package to help manage the emotional impact of cancer.”
If you’d like Wolly to visit your school or club for a Wolly Work Out, contact Lorraine White at [email protected] or call 07785472863.
