One of the Isle of Wight’s longest-running sailing events is set to return later this Summer, with Folkboat Week bringing competitors from across the UK and beyond to Yarmouth for a week of racing and social events.
The Royal Solent Yacht Club will host Folkboat Week 2026 from 22nd August to 28th August, with online entry now open for the 61st edition of the popular regatta.
Established in 1966, the annual event has become a highlight of the sailing calendar for both British Classic Folkboats and the Nordic Folkboat One Design class, combining competitive racing with a packed programme of social activities.
Racing will take place in the Western Solent and Christchurch Bay, with the Royal Solent Yacht Club organising 8 races across the week. Competitors will be able to test themselves in both fast-paced windward-leeward races and longer tactical courses.
Away from the water, crews, families and supporters can enjoy a range of social events, including barbecues, cocktail parties, the traditional Thursday night quiz, singalongs and the prizegiving dinner.
Supported by event sponsor, Lymington Yacht Haven, Folkboat Week continues to attract sailors from across the UK as well as international visitors, celebrating both the competitive spirit and heritage of the Folkboat class.
John Poyner, Commodore of the Royal Solent Yacht Club, has said:
“The Royal Solent Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming the Folkboat fleet back to Yarmouth in August for another memorable week of racing, friendship and celebration of this much-loved class.”
Online entry for Folkboat Week 2026 is now open via the Royal Solent Yacht Club’s website.
