Isle of Wight archer Summer Chambers has returned from the Junior National Outdoor Championships in Shropshire with 2 team Gold medals after another impressive showing against the country’s top young archers.
The 15-year-old travelled to Lilleshall for the event, hosted by Archery GB, where she competed across 2 days of competition while continuing to gain valuable experience at national level.
Day 1 saw competitors shoot the demanding 900 Round, consisting of 3 dozen arrows at distances of 50m, 40m and 30m.
Summer finished with a score of 805 out of 900 to place 6th individually. Her score also helped the Southern Counties team, alongside Isabelle Mason, Navya and Jasmine Harris, secure the Gold medal in the Regional Recurve Team competition.
On Day 2, Summer produced an even stronger performance in the Windsor 50 Round, shooting 928 out of 972 to finish 4th overall – just 2 points shy of a podium place.
She again celebrated team success as Southern Counties claimed a second Regional Recurve Team Gold medal, this time alongside Isabelle Mason, Eva Dufer and Jasmine Harris.
Summer said:
“Overall, I’m really happy with how the weekend went. Every competition is another opportunity to learn, improve, and test myself against some of the best junior archers in the country.
“Now it’s time to get back to training and prepare for the next competition, the mighty Junior Archery Youth Festival at the beginning of August!”
The latest performances continue Summer’s impressive run of national results, having recently retained her place among the top 6 junior recurve archers in the country following the third stage of the Junior Archery Series in Oxfordshire.
