Aspiring young soldiers in the Isle of Wight will have the opportunity to find out more about a rewarding career in the Armed Forces when the Army’s Mobile Careers Centre visits The Military Preparation College (MPCT) in Ryde on Tuesday (8th September).
Teenage students from the college, as well as other interested recruits, will have the chance to meet with experienced Army representatives to discuss career options, and undertake formal interviews following online applications to the Army. The event will take place on Tuesday 8thSeptember from 11:00 to 15:00 at MPCT’s base at Ryde Academy in Playstreet Lane (former Haylands Primary).
Huw Lewis MBE, Managing Director at MPCT, says that this is a great opportunity for potential recruits to ask important questions, gain first-hand knowledge and to explore the civilian qualifications and opportunities that the Army offers.
“MPCT has a proven track record of successfully preparing young people for a career in the Armed Forces, and for our young learners in the Isle of Wight this is a great chance to gain advice and information about their future careers. It’s also going to be an important visit for some of our students that have already submitted their applications to the Army, as official interviews will be carried out on these days.
“Aside from our own students, this is also a great opportunity for other young men and women from around the Isle of Wight to come and find out more about the range of careers on offer in the Army, and explore how our own Military Preparation College could help get them fit and prepared for a successful application.”
The Mobile Army Careers Centre (MACC) aims to fill the gap that was created when the Army’s physical Careers Offices were closed down due to organisational restructuring three years ago. The mobile centres are now travelling to locations across the UK, in order to offer potential new recruits the essential information required to make an informed decision about embarking on a career in the Army.
The Isle of Wight has been selected by the Army as a key location for this important service. After the visit to the Military Preparation College on 8thSeptember, the MACC will also visit the Isle of Wight College on 22ndSeptember. The two visits follow closely in the wake of many youngsters on the Island recently receiving their GCSE and A-Level exam results.
The Military Preparation College has helped to enlist over 2,000 young people into careers within the Armed Forces since its conception in 1999. To find out more, visit www.mpct.co.uk.
