Islanders are being invited to take part in a cold water swim at Freshwater in an event organised by Mental Health Swims Isle of Wight.
Christmas can be a really tough time of the year for people who struggle with their mental health along with 2020 being a year of isolation and loneliness for a huge number of people.
Mental Health Swims Isle of Wight and Zoe Isobel are inviting you to join them in a cold water swim at Freshwater Bay on Saturday 12th December at 12:00.
Those taking part should bring their best Christmas vibe! Be it an Elf costume, Santa hat, some mince pies and pigs in blankets to share, or some plain old Christmas spirit. As it is Christmas, team Mental Health Swims will be bringing mince pies and a few nibbles to share and enjoy.
Everyone is welcome to join whether you swim, litter pick, or simply go along for a chat. COVID restrictions are permitted and social distancing will still apply.
Mental Health Swims is a peer support community. You enter the water at your own risk and must be responsible for your safety at all times.

She has a wool hat on. And her hair is dry. How? Staged photo? No way would be dry if she had been swimming.
Nope, not staged. I see on Instagram she often wears a bobble hat while swimming! She has to keep some part of her warm!!
The girl in the wool hat is my daughter, I can assure you the photo is not staged and she swims most days. In case you didn’t notice or read the article, this is about supporting people with mental health issues and the benefits of cold water swimming. How unkind to someone only trying to do good. Shame on you!!
