As previously reported by Island Echo, Armed Police from both sides of the Solent were deployed to Leed Street on Friday night after receiving a report of a man with a weapon. The specialist officers carried out enquires in the area and spoke with a man, but no weapon was located and no offences were identified.
Friday’s incident came just a week after another armed deployment to Leed Street. On that occasion, a 59-year-old man was arrested and an air rifle was recovered. The man was released from Police custody without charge.
On 30th April emergency services were called to Leed Street when a potentially hazardous substance was found on the front door of a property.
The 31-year-old man, from Sandown, has been released on Police bail until 17th June 2019. Investigations continue.
Hampshire Constabulary say that the Neighbourhood Policing Team will be carrying out regular patrols in the area.
