A 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following an incident at an address in Sandown last night (Thursday).
Police received reports of a man with a weapon on Leed Street, off The Broadway, at just gone 22:00.
Armed Police were deployed to the scene and the specialist officers conducted enquiries in the area. An air rifle was later recovered.
Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 59-year-old man has been arrested and he remains in Police custody at this time.
This latest incident on Leed Street comes just days after a hazardous materials alert was sparked when a corrosive substance was sprayed on the front door of a property.
UPDATE – The 59-year-old man has been released from Police custody without charge, but remains under investigation at this time.

scary ! I walk my 4 year old daughter down that road sometimes and to think a nut case with an air rifle is walking around where I live !!!!
