A Luton van has been badly damaged after coming into contact with a low tree on the outskirts of Ryde.
The incident has occurred on Harding Shute, between Beaper Shute and Green Lane, on the southern outskirts of Ryde.
The rear box section of the Ford Transit – including the tail lift – has been pulled away from the chassis as a result of striking the tree branch.
The driver has escaped injury but a passenger is currently being checked over by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The country lane, which is being used by motorists to divert around the Smallbrook Roundabout works, is closed in both directions.
Recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.
Guess he never saw that coming !!
Alien abduction I’m afraid and they didn’t take his boots!
Anyone want to buy a 3D puzzle?
Reminds me of the scene in The Italian Job, and Michael Caine says, “you were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!”
Saves the Council the job of deforestation in that part of Ryde. Wait till the town floods, from The Strand to St. John’s, every single time it rains a bit more than usual….
Would help if landowners were forced to cut the trees and hedges back for large vehicles. Half the time your in the middle of the road for no reason when the hedge or branches just needs a trim.
there’s a 6 ft 6″ restriction on that road isn’t there ?
apparently some drivers can’t take a hint !
