Solent Coastguard tasked 2 lifeboats and a coastguard rescue team to a boat that had run aground at the entrance to Cowes Harbour earlier on tonight (Saturday).
Cowes RNLI Lifeboat, Yarmouth RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team were all tasked to assist a 56ft motor vessel which had lost engine power.
‘Moon Gazer’, with 2 persons on board, ran aground on the western end of Cowes Breakwater at the mouth of the River Medina. Thankfully, those on board were uninjured.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 20:30 after a Mayday call was received by Solent Coastguard from the casualty vessel.
Cowes Lifeboat has since successfully towed the boat into Cowes Harbour and is now moored alongside Trinity Landing.
Yarmouth’s All-Weather Lifeboat was stood down whilst en-route to the incident.
All search and rescue teams have now stood down from the incident.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.

Did I read a story saying islandecho won an award for up to date news ?
Haven’t seen much of that tbh
Hahaha I was thinking the same! Since that award post on here hasn’t been much on here! Think he wanted to to stay at top of the post’s!
Since the award win on 18th October, we have published a total of 90 articles. On the breaking news side of things it is extremely quiet on the Island at the moment but we are still publishing the news as it happens following our ‘first, fast, free’ aim.
Yesterday (Sunday) we did not publish a single article, which is very rare for us. But this gives people a ‘day off’ from the news and allowed us all to have some downtime.
