Volunteer lifeboat crew and Coastguard Rescue Officers were tasked to Culver Down yesterday evening (Sunday) when it was reported that a person had been spotted on the wrong side of the safety fence.
Bembridge RNLI’s Inshore Lifeboat launched at 18:00 to provide safety cover and support to Coastguard Rescue Teams from Bembridge and Ventnor.
It had been reported to Solent Coastguard that someone had been seen on the wrong side of the fence running along the cliff top.
Soon after launching, the lifeboat and other emergency teams were stood down after an update came through that the person had been seen leaving the area safe and well.
If you or someone else is in difficulty on the coast or at sea, or if you spot what you think may be unexploded ordnance, then dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Further safety information can be found at https://coastguardsafety.campaign.gov.uk/.

I thought it was funny..
What was the lifeboat going to do ?
Pick up the body if the person had jumped.
Possibly pick up a body stupid. Thankfully they didn’t need to.
If there’s ever a moment where I slap myself In the face and wonder it’s right now
What a waste of the lifeboats crews time when they maybe needed for a proper emergency
