As news breaks of the sudden death of singer Liam Payne, Islanders are remembering his appearance on the Isle of Wight when he shot a music video in Shanklin.
It was in November 2019 – almost 5 years ago – that the A-list celebrity braved the cold to film scenes for a new music video in the sea at Shanklin.
The former One Direction band member entered the bitterly cold waters with a camera crew as intrigued dog walkers watched on, as exclusively reported by Island Echo at the time. After just 10 minutes the topless singer returned to dry land.
Other scenes for ‘Live Forever’ were shot on Culver Down, near Sandown. In the video, which has been watched almost 7million times on YouTube, Liam is seen walking up the road and a car performs doughnuts in the gravel car park.
The 31-year-old was found dead in the courtyard of the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina yesterday (Wednesday).
It’s understood he had been situated on a third floor balcony, with the discovery of his body on the ground floor coming after Police responded to reports of an ‘aggressive male’ who may have been ‘under the effects of drink or drugs’.
